What kind of racing is the Performance Cup?

The Performance Cup is a grassroots multi-class championship operating in eastern Canada. No brackets, no horsepower limit. Old School racing at it’s finest.

Who operates the Performance Cup?

The Performance Cup is a CASC sanctioned championship. However, the Performance Cup operates with our own technical and sporting code separate to other CASC championships

How can I race in the Performance Cup?

You must attain at minimum a regional racing licence. Then you can either contact a team to rent a car for a single race or season, or you can purchase or prepare your own! You can also contact us and we can point you to an option that suits your needs.

What type of vehicles are allowed?

Any production based, home built car meeting all the CASC scrutineering requirements, or a factory built car. Cars can be front, mid, or rear engine, FWD, RWD or a 4WD car converted to 2 wheel drive. Tube frame chassis, prototypes, hybrid or fully electric vehicles, or open wheel cars are not permitted

What are the typical cars competing in the Performance Cup?

There are 3 classes of competition based on horsepower to weight and for any budget. there is no upper or lower horsepower limits. Our premier class can see anything from Porsche Cayman, Honda Civic Type R, and Nissan 370z. Mid range class can see cars like the Honda Civic Si, Mini Cooper, and Subaru BRZ. Our entry level and budget class can see Fiat 500s, Nissan Micras, Sentra Cup, Mazda Miatas and more.

How will the competition be equalized?

We have a highly detailed and integrated balance of performance system that analyses the cars performance exclusively. We want the racing to be settled on the track by the drivers. Weight, ride height amongst other technical regulations will be inspected and enforced thoroughly along with our dynamometer coming to every single race to verify every car is making the correct power to weight ratio they declare.

How can I be sure BoP changes from weekend to weekend are fair?

Changes will be given with ample time for teams and drivers to make amendments and fix their cars. All BoP changes and information for every car will be given to all competitors for every race, with rationale for any changes, or modifications required

What if I buy a car or mine currently has a sequential transmission?

If your car came with a modification or you choose to upgrade components, we have performance modifiers in the technical rule book that will be implemented, enforced, and calculated in the BoP formula

What if my car currently has modifications not permitted for the class I want to run in, and I don’t have the budget for a replacement? Can I still race?

Yes! However you will need to file and submit an exemption form. The form specifies exactly what your exemption request is, where in the car the exemption is requested, and why you’re requesting it. All requests will be made public to competitors with rationale.

Is there an age limit on the cars that can enter the Performance Cup?

No! We are more interested in keeping a clean and professional appearance of all vehicles for the championship.

Is there a spec tire for the Performance Cup?

We are currently in discussions for a spec tire for the championship. However the nature of our technical regulations, and BoP requirements open up a wide variety of tire size options for competitors, so you shouldn’t have to purchase additional rims or change from your current sizes.
